At CJMA, safeguarding is a fundamental part of how we operate.
We are committed to providing a safe, supportive and positive environment for all students — particularly children and young people — where they can train, develop and enjoy martial arts with confidence.
Safeguarding is not treated as a formality. It is an active, ongoing responsibility that underpins everything we do.
Our Commitment
We take a proactive approach to safeguarding by:
- Creating a safe and inclusive training environment
- Promoting respect, awareness and appropriate behaviour at all times
- Ensuring all staff and assistants understand their responsibilities
- Acting quickly and appropriately on any concerns raised
All coaching and assistant staff involved in junior classes:
- Hold Enhanced DBS clearance
- Have completed Safeguarding certification
- Are trained to recognise and respond appropriately to concerns
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is the first point of contact for any safeguarding concerns within the club.
Name: Rita Goorochurn Jackson
Role: Designated Safeguarding Lead
Email: safeguarding@carljacksonmartialarts.co.uk

If you have any concerns regarding the safety or wellbeing of a student, you are encouraged to make contact directly and in confidence.
Independent Safeguarding Support (BMABA)
We are a registered member of British Martial Arts & Boxing Association (BMABA CIC), who act as our Safeguarding Governing Body.
BMABA can be contacted independently for any safeguarding concerns at:
- Email: safeguarding@bmaba.org.uk
- Phone: 01798 306546
This provides an additional layer of support and reassurance for all students and parents.

Raising a Concern
If something doesn’t feel right, it’s important it is reported.
Concerns can include (but are not limited to):
- Changes in behaviour or wellbeing
- Inappropriate conduct
- Concerns about safety inside or outside the club
All concerns are taken seriously, handled sensitively, and dealt with in line with established safeguarding procedures.
Our Responsibility
Safeguarding is a shared responsibility between instructors, assistants, students and parents.
At CJMA, we aim to create an environment where:
- Students feel safe and supported
- Parents feel confident and informed
- Standards are clear and consistently upheld
This is non-negotiable and central to the culture of the club.
